Bushfire testing

SCREENGUARD® screens have undergone testing to ensure quality performance under the duress of fire.

BAL testing with full exposure of screen to furnace
Superb performance of SCREENGUARD screen
Extreme heat testing - no flaming of test screen occurred

SCREENGUARD® bushfire rated screens use specifically developed fire retardent PVC seats and wedges.

Please ask your fabricator to use these products when ordering screens in a fire risk or BAL (bushfire attack level) rated area.

BAL 40 rating
Floating ember safe
40.2 kW/m2 heat flux tested
10-10 rule achieved

Details of fire testing

All testing was carried out by an NATA registered independent testing laboratory to strict Australian Standards using a pilot fire resistance furnace meeting requirements of AS 1530.4-2005.

This furnace provides radiant heat (simulating a bush fire happening) required as per AS 1530.4-2005 Appendix B7. Total heat flux meters were used to measure radiant heat.

To ensure accurate measurements of incident radiation, two radiometers projecting through the screen were used to read the data.

The test screen was also monitored after the fire exposure period to determine the level of re-radiation of the screen.
